El Guincho‘s Alegranza (Mistletone) is an amazing release, stylistically similar to Panda Bear’s, Person Pitch (Paw Tracks).

Weekends of birthday parties, turning into extravagant affairs of costume parties.

Darkrooms, darkroom etiquette and cutting paper with guillotines in complete darkness. The safe lights in these darkrooms are barely noticeable, its that dark.

Pivot playing to a really packed Oxford Art Factory.

Brooklyn-based musician, Santogold – think a cross between Karen O and MIA.

HAPPY HOUR.

Upgrading my Flickr account – hooray!

I now have Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It” on vinyl, with “Tramp” on the B side – fucking rad! Oh and thanks Kat!

Miranda July and her amazing projects. This one in particular.

And …

Finally meeting Osmond.

Going back to uni as a postgrad student so expectations are high and plenty. I have (what I wished was a pile of new music) is a pile of readings to get through, mainly about Le Corbusier, art nouveau and Alvaro Siza.

I’m back in the darkroom for another semester – woohoo! But the cost of all the film and paper is NOT COOL. Our class has officially bought every single packet of colour paper in Sydney and I’m not talking about the colour paper for your lame-ass inkjet printer.

Joanna Newsom remixed – LAME.

Being told very disturbing sex stories about some friends. I know we all have them but this changes everything.

My camera displaying the ERR 99 message when I shoot above f5.6. I think there might be an issue with my lens.

To the obnoxious and loud woman at the front during CocoRosie pissing me and the crowd off (and most likely CocoRosie too)…SHUT YOUR MOUTH.

The Laneway Festival wasn’t as great as I’d hoped. Only the sight of Broken Social Scene, Stars and Feist together on stage redeemed that day.

Getting sick – lots of coughing, mucus and icky syrups.

And this…

An album promotion from Crystal Castles.

Warning: Some of you may find this disturbing.

NOT COOL AT ALL.

Around this time last week, I managed to …

Attend two 21st birthday parties. With revealing speeches, open bar tabs, costumes, close friends and shenanigans left, right and centre, all leading to an amazing time had by all.

And for the record I went as Mario of Super Mario Brothers fame.

A gig, well the 6 remaining songs of Matt & Kim’s set at the Oxford Art Factory.

The uninformed change in schedule meant their set would end by 6pm. I still really enjoyed their set albeit very briefly. Here are some more photos.

That Sunday was closed off with dinner at a family restaurant, then games of pool at the local.

On Tuesday, I handed my final assignment for my undergrad course and since then I’ve been trying to organise my enrolment for postgrad, of which is not the most simplest process considering my faculty is inconsiderately slack towards these issues.

Thursday, er um, valentines day, was spent saying goodbye to our friend Kym, who’s going on exchange for a year.

I’m still here … literally stuck between pieces of cardboard and balsa, and thankfully no essays to kill my already stressed mind. With the end of the semester so near, I’m fearing:

  • Final design proposals.
  • Finding a “serious” job.
  • Graduation.
  • The future.

Our faculty has decided to conveniently phase out our 5 ½ years of Bach. of Architecture into 3 years of Bach. of Architectural Studies and 2 years of Masters of Architecture. You’d think it make our lives simpler, but no. I’m confused and freaked out at the prospect that I might just be graduating next year.

To combat that fear/reality has been some news of very-promising tours heading our way.

The Architecture in Helsinki remixers are here for a brief stop over.

After a run of shows with his ever-amazing lady (Joanna Newsom) earlier this year, Bill Callahan is returning WITH STRINGS! Could that include Joanna too? Alright, maybe that’s asking a bit too much but let me repeat myself, Bill Callahan is returning! Here are the dates:

1 Nov A&I Hall, Bangalow
2-3 Nov Troubadour, Brisbane
7 Nov The Factory Theatre, Sydney
8 Nov The Toff, Melbourne
9 Nov Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
10 Nov Jade Monkey, Adelaide
14 Nov Fly By Night, Perth

Tickets $35+ from your usual outlets.

In other news, Those Walls, Your Ears is a year old as of November and that can only mean one thing…well, two. Firstly, I am in the process of expanding the site (more like recruiting) with a posse of stylers, bangers, nerds and like-minded folk to make this site just a tad bit bigger. And secondly, a party is on the way.

Hold your horses. And pants.
