New Music: Memory Tapes

Early this year I posted a small mixtape containing a track from New Jersey’s Memory Cassette – one of two musical projects of producer Dayve Hawk. The other pseudonym of Hawk’s was Weird Tapes but now resides under the combined title of Memory Tapes.

The sounds of Memory Cassette and Weird Tapes were never separate. In fact, this merge of Hawk’s projects was rather inevitable – it made perfect sense. The sensual harmonies from Memory Cassette plus the cosmic beats of Weird Tapes makes Memory Tapes one thrilling listen complete with dark and light shades – it is radiant and glowing yet mysterious and slightly eerie. It is trapped in the dark bellows of an 80’s time warp with a touch of euphoria perhaps as sign of adaptation. This is ridiculously blissful pop.
